Articulation & Speech Sound Therapy
Playful, targeted practice that helps your child's speech become clearer, so they can be understood and feel confident.
Every child mispronounces sounds while they are learning to talk, and a lot of it is completely normal for their age. But when speech stays hard to understand, or certain sounds are still tricky well past the age most children master them, targeted therapy can make a real difference.
What this can look like
- Speech that is hard for others, or even you, to understand
- Trouble with specific sounds like R, L, or “th,” “sh,” and “ch”
- A lisp for “s” and “z” sounds
- Leaving off the ends of words or swapping sounds
Some of these are worth watching, and some are worth acting on. Our guides on what is and isn’t normal for intelligibility, when speech mistakes are cute versus a concern, the tricky R sound, and understanding a lisp can help you tell the difference. You can also see how speech sounds typically develop by age.
How we help
We determine which sounds to target first for the biggest impact, then practice them in a way that feels like play, not drills. Sessions are motivating and built around your child’s interests, so they stay engaged while their speech becomes clearer and more intelligible.
If you find yourself translating for your child or noticing them get frustrated when they are not understood, a quick conversation is a great place to start.
